Calvin was born in Bolton in 1964 and has played bass and guitar since he was about 16 (so he's getting to be quite good these days). He managed to stay a true northerner for many years, living (and playing) in Bolton, Manchester and then Liverpool, but in 1994 he finally sold out and moved south to Cambridge.

There, living as an outcast and shunned by his own kind, he joined 2-Sheds Jackson in the hope that some of Kenny's Scottishness might rub off on him and counteract the effects of mixing with southerners on a daily basis. He also located co-member of the band's hard driving backbone, drummer Jason. The fact that Jason was working at a desk 10 feet away helped greatly in the search.

Calvin is always interested in peoples reactions when he tells them that he is is a bass player. Here are his favourites:

"Oh. Er ... That's nice."
"So you couldn't master the guitar then."
"There are only two kinds of bass players; Plonkers and Slappers. Which one are you boy?"

One day he hopes to meet someone who be excited by the news (other bass players do not count).

As well as playing the bass, Calvin fancies himself as a bit of a producer and can often be found miking up drum kits or mixing down large numbers of tracks on a PC.

Calvin lives with his wife Karen (who used to work with Kenny's wife, Annie - which is how Kenny and Calvin met in the first place). Calvin and Karen have their own web site here.

Since 2SJ went their separate ways, Calin has carried on playing bass in Cambrigde with Bluesbarn (www.bluesbarn.co.uk).
