2-Sheds Jackson
Frequently
Asked Questions
Who are 2-Sheds Jackson?
2-Sheds Jackson are one of the best live acts that play regularly in the
Cambridge area. We play a mixture of cover versions and our own material. The current line
up of Robert Swinn (Vocals), Kenny Langlands (Guitar), Andy McLellan (Keyboards), Calvin Monk (Bass) and Jason Cooper (drums) formed in 1998, mainly from a
desire of our respective partners to "get us out of the house" for once in a
while. We rehearse regularly in order to maintain the high musical standards known as
"rockin" and "tight as a gnats chuff".
So what sort of stuff do you play?
That's one of the questions that is just so hard to answer. I mean artistically
speaking we see ourselves as ... no strike that ... We are a rock band. Totally and
unashamedly a rock band and a damned good one at that.
So what sort of stuff do you play?
Didn't we just do that one? Oh I see, you mean specifically. We do all kinds of
stuff including songs by the Doors, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, the Stranglers, Kula
Shaker and the Ocean Colour Scene and then, just to throw you, we may play something by a
band you might not expect such as the Smiths or the Cult.
Are you any good?
Yes, very.
Really?
Yes, really. Honest! I mean, if you don't believe us, then listen to our MP3s. It's all recorded live with no overdubs or anything
like that, so you can hear exactly what you will be getting.
OK, I give in. I was trying not to ask, but where did the name come from?
Well to cut a long story short, it's from a Monty Python sketch and Calvin has
an awful lot of sheds and we were trying to think of a name and - well you get the idea.
Besides you can abbreviate it to 2SJ and that lets people sound pretty cool and they can
be smug about being "in the know" about it all!
Haven't I seen you on the telly?
You may have caught one of our many television appearances. We have been on Cambridge Red TV about 50 times. OK. Admittedly this
was because they retransmitted the same programmes every 3 hours for a week, but it still
counts as over 2.5 hours of airtime (well cable time if you want to be pedantic).
Well I'm convinced! How can I get to hear you.
You could always book us for a gig, but we realise that many people may find
that a bit much to do all in one go. So, if you haven't got a copy of our demo CD, then contact us and we'll send you one. Alternatively you can
download some MP3s from this very web site. Of course,
if you have already heard us, or feel like jumping in with both feet and booking us
straight away, you can mail us immediately to offer us
gigs.
